Kennedy Calvin Phounsiri, also known as “ERANETIK”, is a San Diego native. He is the youngest of two siblings, one older brother and one elder sister. His family fled their home country Laos to move to the U.S. for a free life in 1989. He was the first and only born U.S. citizen in his family. Eranetik is a multi-talented being that can dance, rap, and sing.
He first started breaking in the summer of 2002. He began learning in his front lawn with his brother and neighborhood friends on a linoleum floor, but now is able to practice at different locations across the San Diego County. After years of training, he now travels across the world to teach, compete, and perform.
To further increase his dancing ability, he started training in other forms of dance, such as: lyrical, ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, and choreography. He was first introduced to these different dance styles in his freshman year of high school. Eranetik did not start off in a beginning dance class. He jumped straight into the advance dance program, with a mind that was blank in technique, and became part of his high school’s first official dance team. Even though he has never trained in technique, he was motivated to do his part for the team and learn by imitating what was told to be done and having to lock it in his brain. After hard work, practice, self-determination, and dedication, he became a captain and was awarded the “Best Male Dancer”. He attended Eastlake High School and was part of the EHS Dance Company from 2006-2010.
Music always played a big part in Eranetik’s life. His father is a famous Lao musician and singer, so he grew up around music. He was always rapping for fun with his brother and neighborhood friends. In 2007, he made a choice to start recording and writing songs. He saved up money to by himself his own studio equipment and stored it into his bedroom. Ever since then, he has been making songs and putting them online. Through sites like Myspace and Youtube, he has reached over millions of hits total and gained a pretty big fan base by doing so. He caters more towards the Asian community, due to the fact that he is Asian himself, and gains support from each and every one of them. His networking ability has made him known in his own way and got his music to where it is today.
