Reflective Essay
November 11, 2008
Period: 1
Have you ever went through a struggle to get something you really wanted, but couldn’t for some reason? Well I have. I met this girl who I really felt interested in, but she did not feel the same way. Suddenly, when time passed, she finally felt the same way. This experience was one to be remembered because I now know that, if you really want something, put your heart into it and keep trying, because one day that day will come.
It was on September 7th, 2008, when I laid eyes on the most beautiful person I have ever seen. Right at that point, I knew I had to talk to her. She was a friend of a friend, so I asked my friend to help me out. My friend said she was not interested, but that didn’t stop me. I starting talking to her myself and got to know her a little. All of a sudden, I felt so drawn into her. She was like a magnet and I was the metal. I kept getting pulled in! Everything about her, from her voice to her looks to her personality to her personal hobbies, felt perfect. She was a girl that I can finally call, “my type”. That is why I like her and nothing can ever take that away from me.
As much as I liked her, she did not feel the same way at all. Yeah we went on little dates here and there, but that didn’t really mean much to her. Until one day, she went on a vacation away from home, a cruise to Mexico. She didn’t realize that there was something she was going to lose. It was me, the person she missed seeing and talking to. This was very unexpected, because I always had it in my head that I had no chance. But feelings started appearing in her heart, that she did feel the same way I did for her. We hung out the day she got back. She then told me how she felt and I had the biggest smile on my face. I was full of joy and happiness. A butterfly starting swarming around my tummy and my heart was pumping very quickly! It was pretty nerve-racking, but very exciting. On that day, we made it official that we were talking.
About one month later, the idea of asking her to be my girlfriend starting kicking in. I felt ready to be back in a relationship. So on this one special day, October 21st, 2008, I asked her to be my girlfriend, in the best way I possibly could. She said, uh!” and ended, “this is the sweetest thing that has ever happened to me”. I felt very happy and accomplished! This was my day. The day that will be marked in my heart forever. It was the start of a new life for me. The start of a new life with the person I love. Since then on, everything was perfect. I feel a lot of chemistry between us, because we mix like the perfect mix that defines what love is.
Through this experience, I now know that, if I really want something, I have to keep trying till I get it, because one day that “something” may happen. All you have to do is set a priority, and get it done. That’s what I did and I accomplished my goal. And even though I’m young, and probably do not know what love really is, but in my heart, mind, and soul, I know this is the closest thing to it.
